All about Puggles and What You Should Know

A First Generation Puggle is a mix between a purebred pug and a purebred beagle. Second Generation Puggles come from breeding Puggle to Puggle, Puggle to pug or Puggle to beagle. Puggles tend to be between 15–30 pounds. 2nd generation puggles colors can vary such as black, silver, beige, light and dark fawns as well as Tri-colored puggles.
As pets, puggles have the mild mannered yet playful "lap dog" qualities often associated with pugs mixed with the more energetic tendencies typical of the hunting qualities of a beagle. A cheerful clown who loves to play but then quickly tires for a short nap, puggles are mid-sized dogs that make excellent housepets. Many puggle owners will testify to their winning personality as one of their strongest points. Puggles are affectionate and get along well with children. They have a friendly disposition
    .
Having 4 plus years experience with Puggles, my number 1 advice is what I call the Practice the Puggle  P's - Patience, Praise, Persistence and Perserverance! It takes all  to help your young puppy to grow up into the best Puggle he or she can be!
Puggles are extremely smart and are quick to learn, both good and bad so it is best to Praise and reward the good and be firm on what you don't want your puppy to do, a firm no and a short time-out will usually do. Puggles are very loyal and love to be where their loved ones are, on your lap or at least  very close by is their preference. They are eager to please and LOVE a routine, our puggles without fail let's us know when it is bedtime and ready to go to bed in their crates or in the morning when it is time to get up!
Puggles are quite comical at times and and are so much fun to have around, not a day has gone by that our puggle family  has not provided a moment to laugh about! I marvel at their sense of smell as even if they go outside individually, they can track where the previous puggles have been in our big yard, especially sisters Jazz and Sadie.
Puggles do shed and bark like most other breeds of dogs. Some will howl or whine. Some will have an underbite and rarely cherry-eye can happen. It is not unusual for puggles to snore, they also can reverse sneeze (you can find videos of this on you-tube).
In the second-generation (Puggle to Puggle), it is common to have the Tri-colors and Black & fawn as well as different shades of Fawns. Some can either have more puggish face or beagle face shapes as well. They are usually in the 20-30lb. range. There are what they call pocket puggle and they are pug-rat terrier cross.
